about

Displacement – So named due to its introductory 11/8 rhythm over 4/4, which creates a displaced feel, followed by another section where I play in 7/8 on piano while the strings play all manner of other accented times over the top, along with a funky bass line in 4/4 from Jerry. Then, Hannes and Jerry are each playing different displaced accents throughout the song. The track ended up fairly straight forward sounding and catchy despite the displaced rhythmic tendencies and occasional polytonality, primarily because it has so much neo-Classical harmony and Tom Kopyto is so zesty on guitar.
